EADS Astrium is the UK's largest builder of Satellites and they host us for the day. You will be shown around the laboratories where the satellites are built and learn about the materials used and why we need satellites. In the afternoon you and a small team are then set a challenge of building a satellite that must house an egg. By performing certain calculations you must decide the size and cost of the build before putting it forward for the shock test to see if the satellite can withstand the force it would experience if it were launched into space.
